DESCRIPTION:Created specifically for the unique needs of General Practitioners\, this CPD-accredited and free-of-charge course is designed to empower and equip Victorian GPs in transgender and gender diverse (TGD) primary care. \nCo-designed and delivered by leading General Practitioners in the field and TGD health professionals\, this initiative has been created to improve health outcomes and access for the trans and gender diverse population across the state. \nThe course combines interactive\, didactic\, and case-based learning covering topics such as: \n\nGender Affirming Hormone Therapy\nAffirmative Practice & clinical logistics\nSurgical options and referral\nMental health referral and support\nMedicare considerations\nFinding a community of practice.\n\nThere are three sessions in this series\, taking place on Wednesday 5\, 12 and 19 March 2025. \nClick here to learn more and register.

DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Australian Prostate Centre \nProstate cancer GP Dr Jane Crowe will outline prostate cancer genetic issues that can arise in the general practice setting and will discuss when it is deemed suitable for GPs to suggest genetic testing for their patients with prostate cancer\, particularly those who have certain characteristics for an inherited mutation (germline). Prof Niall Corcoran will explain the function of biomarker (somatic) testing and for what types of prostate cancer it is suitable. Case studies will be used for context. \nLearning outcomes\nBy the end of this activity\, participants will be able to:\n1. Distinguish between germline and somatic genetic testing and when one may be more suitable over another.\n2. Determine when it is appropriate to suggest genetic testing to a patient. \nRACGP accreditation\nOne CPD Educational Activity hour.
