DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the RACGP \nThis introductory workshop is designed for GPs and registrars with little or no prior experience in point‑of‑care ultrasound (POCUS). It provides a practical introduction to the role of POCUS in the diagnostic process\, focusing on core concepts\, basic image acquisition\, and ultrasound applications commonly used in general practice. \nLed by experienced rural clinicians and sonographers\, the workshop explores key POCUS applications in a supportive learning environment\, with a strong emphasis on hands‑on practice. You will use Butterfly iQ handheld ultrasound devices\, provided by our equipment partner\, Big Green. \nAt the end of this workshop\, you will be able to: \n1. Apply the Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (eFAST) protocol for trauma assessment.\n2. Apply compression ultrasound to assess for the presence of deep vein thrombosis.\n3. Interpret ultrasound images to differentiate cellulitis and abscess.\n4. Perform intravenous line placement under safe ultrasound guidance.\n5. Identify features of a viable intrauterine pregnancy using first trimester transabdominal obstetric ultrasound\n6.
