This webinar will give an overview of motivational interviewing in the context of substance use and is part of the University of Sydney’s Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use Comorbidity Project webinar series, which is focused on applying evidence into practice.

Presented by Dr Robert Fullerton, a senior clinical psychologist at Sentient Professional Wellbeing and clinical psychologist at Bondi Doctors. He holds a dual PhD in Clinical and Industrial-Organisational Psychology and has 16 years of experience applying Motivational Interviewing in government-funded, university counselling, and private practice treatment settings.

By the end of this webinar, attendees will gain:

– An understanding of Transtheoretical Model of Change
– An awareness of what Motivational Interviewing is and when it is useful
– Knowledge of the spirit and principles of Motivational Interviewing
– An understanding of the core communication skills of Motivational Interviewing that lead to behaviour change
