Healthcare Infection Prevention Control Audit Tool (HIPCAT)

Resources to help maintain infection, prevention and control standards

On behalf of Victorian PHNs, Murray PHN is helping to inform the development of an infection, prevention and control self-audit tool. This initiative has been developed with the support and input from the Victorian Department of Health and Hands-On Infection Control.

The tool encompasses the National Safety Quality and Health Service Standards, which align to general practice accreditation, including medical services within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.

The self-audit tool is free to use and has been designed for Priority Primary Care Centres who need to complete twelve monthly self-audits to maintain infection, prevention and control standards, and for general practices. It will comprise of videos, quizzes and other resources covering the below topics.

To further support learning and best-practice approaches, a collection of standards, guidelines, training, resources, including for consumers, has been collated under each of these areas. To access these, click on the tiles below:

A short video tutorial for new users of the tool has been developed to assist clinics and practices complete the self-audits.
