General practice plays an important role in the community response to emergencies.

The Victorian Department of Health is funding fully subsidised access to the Emergency Response Planning Tool (ERPT) for rural and regional general practices located within the Murray PHN catchment until 31 December 2024, to support business continuity and strengthen a practice’s ability to continue to provide health services to their communities during times of emergency.

The ERPT is a cloud-based application that assists general practices to better prepare for, respond to, and recover from, the impacts of emergencies and pandemics. The tool guides users through a series of planning templates where critical information about the practice can be entered and saved. The information is used to create an emergency response plan which is individually tailored to the general practice. The customised plan is then saved and stored in the cloud and can also be printed as a hard copy resource at any time.

The Emergency Response Planning Tool is managed by Healthpoint ANZ and was developed in collaboration with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). ERPT complies with the 5th edition of the RACGP standards toward accreditation.

Practices that previously received fully subsidised access to the ERPT can contact gpsupport@murrayphn.org.au to request their license to be extended for this year.

  1. Go to the URL: https://erpt.racgp.org.au/createaccount
  2. Complete the form and click Create Account at the bottom of the page
  3. When it asks you to accept to pay for your ERPT access, agree to this and we will allocate you a funded license
  4. You can now start your planning. There are planning guides for each module at the top of each page.
  5. Book a videoconference training session to help you get started.
