Yarning Circle for practice nurses and GPs: First Nations Aboriginal palliative care | Online

October 21 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Free
online training from an external provider

Palliative Care Victoria received funding from the Commonwealth and State government to develop a culturally safe trauma-informed palliative care plan in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people to support Elders living in Residential Aged Care Home (RACHs).

In collaboration with our community partners, we have developed the ‘Yimgawugel bungim yiya’ -Songlines for Deep Dreaming: Let’s Yarn Cultural Considerations for Palliative Care Plan that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders patients and their families to document their cultural care considerations while they access culturally safe and effective palliative and end of life care.

The implementation of this document will expand on existing models of care while supporting new approaches to the way care is delivered or commissioned to our First Nations Elders within Victoria.

This session will introduce you to this document and provide an opportunity in how your practice can implement the plan and be part of the current project trial.

Target audience: Doctors, nurses, aged care workers
